Importfest Vancouver 2013 – Part 1

Importfest made its return back to Vancouver after a long hiatus. The morning started early for us as we set up our booth at 11am and we would be there for the next 12 hours. The weather looked ominous and it started to rain a bit as we waited for our “booth” car, Kenneth’s 1973 Datsun 240z. Throughout the day, the weather got a bit better and eventually led to some sun. I made my rounds with my camera ended up with over 300 photos. It is part of the reason that our Importfest feature will be split up into 3 parts. Without further ado, lets get started with some photos. You’ll also notice a new logo on our images =).

Starting off with Vincent Ong’s track ready Honda S2000 on Volk Racing TE37SLs. This was our pick for the artofstance trophy at Importfest. It is a truly beautiful car.

Soundsgood Auto represented themselves with some muscle (domestic and imported)

We’ve seen this Subaru before in Washington State at the Big Subaru Meets. Happy to say this is a local BC car.

James Kents S14 has come a long way since we first shot featured it back in 2011. Looking very hot!

Martin drove his Mazdaspeed 3 with NWMotiv from Washington State to represent.

First Rocket Bunny Scion FR-S in Canada

The team at artofstance was contacted about a month ago to see if we wanted the opportunity to shoot the first Rocket Bunny kitted Scion FRS in Canada. After contemplating the idea for 0.05 secs we agreed to a photoshoot! OpenRoad Scion is the number one Scion dealership in Canada with the most sales in 2012 and the Rocket Bunny FR-S was built in celebration of this feat.

Ken Miura is the man behind TRA-Kyoto, a shop in Japan that designs body kits while using modern CAD design. Their Rocket Bunny kits are most well known for being on the Nissan S chassis but now the 42 year old former kanjo racer has focused his attention on the Scion FR-S. The first things you notice about the Rocket Bunny Scion FR-S is its widebody fenders and the large rear spoiler. Signature Rocket Bunny features like the exposed bolts on the fenders that give the car its raw look and unique style.

The sound of the Invidia Catback Exhaust rumbled and echoed through the empty building we were shooting in. It was a fantastic sound!

The wheels of choice are Rays Gram Lights 57 Extreme f: 18×9.5 r: 18×10.5 in Winning Blue. A great choice since the color combination works well with the car. This FR-S also has a Seibon carbon fiber hood, carbon fiber foglight surroundings and APR carbon fibrer side mirrors.

The aggressive signature Rocket Bunny rear spoiler gives it a low and wide stance.

Thank you to OpenRoad Autogroup for giving us the opportunity to shoot this unique car! Its one thing to see the Rocket Bunny FR-S online but to have a chance to photograph one in our own backyard is truly an experience.

Ferrari F12 Gallery

I was fortunate enough to get a chance to take a closer look at the new Ferrari F12 last week. I thought the F12 I was about to shoot would be a fiery red as it’d be synonymous with what we’ve expected from Ferrari. However to my surprise, the car that arrived was a beautiful matte silver and it was simply gorgeous!

The new F12 Berlinetta has a 6.3L naturally aspirated V12 engine that produces 740hp @ 8250 RPM and 508 lb-ft of torque @ 6000 RPM. This is enough to propel the 3500+lb car to 0-60mph in 3.1 seconds.

The interior of this F12 is a mix of leather and alcantara.

The drivers console features 2 digital displays on either side of the large tachometer.

Revscene 2013 Spring Meet

This years 2013 Revscene Spring Meet had the biggest turnout. It was also the first Spring Meet I’ve been to with sponsor booths organized by Blitzgear. My morning started early with a meetup with the Static Captains and a run to Timmies. From there, our convoy rolled into Spanish Banks. Big thanks to Static Captains for letting me roll in with you guys! Looking forward to your feature!

Drag Civic Hatchback. This car looked beastly!

A few NSX’s were there, one of my favorite cars.

I’ve seen this BMW M3 a few times at Washington State car shows. Glad he made it up to Vancouver again this year.

It was really cool to see this car in person. Its a Nissan S13 with a Corvette Z06 engine and Honda Odyssey front end conversion. Looks fantastic!

Brian’s BMW on Volk Racing TE37 SLs. Look for a feature of this car in the future.

Sukh brought out his classic Nissan Skyline C210. We’ll be doing a feature on this car in the future.

Big power Toyota Supra. We featured it before as a readers ride. This 1000hp Supra has had a lot of work put into it.

The focus of the site is primarily car photography.
